We can feel it every time we give into distractions, but we often don't realize just how much the dark side of technology has us in its clutches. With the renewed perspective Lifescale offers, we can finally learn to prioritize what matters, and live our digital and physical lives with intention and true happiness.

Another great book by Brian Solis. Excellent insight on our technology dependent lives and how to reclaim them.

When the world needs a hero, the hero appears. We tend to imagine heroes as people who have always been stronger than the "evil force" they stand against. In real life this is not true.A real-life hero has been a victim of this evil force at some point. He just chose to not remain the victim, and to defeat the enemy, that threatens the rest of us.Sometimes the enemy is such that you know it when you see it: the recognizable ugly side of reality, that causes immediate harm, and triggers our survival instincts.Other times the enemy is in disguise. It has an enchanting voice of a mythological deadly Siren. It slowly progresses into our "trust-zone" and becomes a habitual part of life. It lures us with illusional happiness, it feeds our hidden desires, it parasites on our natural needs. And slowly drains life from us.“Lifescale” by Brian Solis is a book about a fight with such an enemy. Technological distraction and egocentric social-media are the evil force, that we need protection from, and don’t always realize it.It's not a self-help book, and it’s not a criticism of modern world. It's a sincere story of a personal struggle. What makes this story even more intriguing, is that the hero himself took part in the creation of this evil force. When somebody who didn't grow up with the modern technology, doesn't use it and never experienced it's enticing call, grumpily criticizes the "smartphone generation", it's not the same as when somebody who took essential part in creating it, who saw technological distraction when it was still a "cute cub", now rises to tame the beast it has become. It is easy to underestimate the damage that technological distraction can cause on individual and collective level. This is the very core of the problem. Our instincts didn't evolve to protect us from the technological trap. The omnipresent distraction is threatening one of the most essential and valuable human traits: creativity. Creativity gives life to everything we consider civilization. Creativity is what distinguishes us from animals, as many evolutionary biologists would claim.Creativity gave birth to the technology itself. But as we welcome more technologically enabled distractions into our lives, our creativity suffers more damage. The struggle is real, and it's in our minds.Brian Solis once realized it about himself and started on a journey to protect his own creative power form being ruined with constant email notifications, tweets, Facebook likes, etc. Many people, who realize the danger of technological distraction, change their environment: they disappear from all social media, refuse using smartphones, stay away from Wi-Fi areas, and perform other feats that can cause a panic attack in an average millenial. They turn their lives in a constant struggle because spending time and energy on protesting something that did become an essential tool for so many people, doesn't help creativity and happiness in the least.Instead of following that same path, Brian Solis had a courage to look in the scariest of places to find the root of the problem: not the smartphone screen, but his own mind.He researched solutions that would help him protect and cultivate his own creativity and life balance from within. As someone who's been trained as a life coach, and who devotes most of the working time to developing coaching programs and guiding numerous mentees in their coaching practices, I can confidently argue that the most essential victories are the ones that happen in our minds. And that technological distraction and social-media race are taking toll even on the most aware professionals.“Lifescale” is a book that brilliantly outlines what it takes to win our creativity and lives back, and gives specific actionable advice to guide the readers through their own journeys.Brian Solis is a thinker who exceptionally balances his analytical and rational mind with his creative and abstract perception. He is an outstanding analyst who does in-depth research and clear analysis, who can see patterns and make projections. He is also an artist, who communicates with life in sensual, creative and abstract languages. This combination of strong analytical thinking and subtle creative perception is what makes him a great futurist. He can see invisible tendencies, trace them, formulate them, and find solutions to issues at their early phases. He did it in "The end of business as usual" to update business models, he did it in "Putting Relationship back in PR" to revolutionize public relationships, he did it in "Engage" to guide mindful engagement among the floods of content, he did it in "X" to uncover the "magic" of client experience. He is a couple steps ahead again, with “Lifescale”, but on a completely different frontier. He is now rescuing the future of creativity, independent thinking, happiness and fulfillment in life. At scale. The book is a very comprehensive study of various creative aspects. You will learn how to better focus, you will catch your creative flow, you will go deeper and really think about your life purpose, you will establish personal fundamental values to support your journey through life, you will design your perfect future, and you will find the energy to walk towards it steadily, sustainably, with the sense of meaning and fulfillment at each step. You will realize that you were born with a creative spark, and you will learn how it can start a fire of meaningful work for you.You will see with your own eyes, that you are the only one who decides what scale your life takes.Fundamentally, creativity is the power of creating your own life, and it's time to claim this power back. The book “Lifescale” by Brian Solis will be a perfect guide.

This is a book everyone should read. The world we live in allows people to create a digital existence that is very different from their authentic self, and the result of this dual personality disorder is that we are less happy, more distracted, and anxious. Technology should work for us, we should not be a slave to it but in order to get to that point the conscious self must devote the whole of our existence to being authentic and true to who we are, not the image we want to propagate through a digital existence.

Tech addiction happens to one of the top items on my list of "things that disturb me most about the world". The world is seems to be overrun by zombies with their blue lit up faces glued to their screens. All these ways to connect. And no one is connecting. No one is present. Such a powerful topic. Such wonderful and useful information.. And I truly respect Brian for tackling such a complicated and poignant issue - especially considering how much tech has been a part of his life. If this is what he's telling us, we better listen up and do our best to spread awareness.
