Another winner here. My kid is already a fan for this hardcover series and as soon as he discovered this when I opened the box, he jumped and started reading this right away. He finished it up rather quickly and he was so excited about it. In one of the other book from this series, we were making "vampire soup" from the recipe because he love it so much. I wonder what this book brings ... I will see. 5 out of 5 Stars.

My 9 year old daughter loves this book series. She was so excited to receive this, she finished it in one evening. She loves the pictures in the book as well as the story. Highly recommend to any parent wanting their children to read more!

I home school and my boys all have disabilities. These books were a chance a few months ago that I took in the hope of finding "The book that made all the difference!" I write, so they are always asking me to write for them, but I need time to finish a book for their summer reading. These books are GREAT! I love them. They include all the cool stuff kids like; a secret language, maps, color coded words, a touch of witty humor, and a touch of trouble making wonder. They love these. Book was described accurately by the seller. We were very happy with it's arrival.

My kid loves these books. Nicely illustrated and entertaining, once he picks up a book he cannot put it down until it is finished with it. The books also have a very good use life, as he comes back to it again and again and reads it with pleasure, always finding and deciphering a new word play.

All I know is that my nine year old grandson, for whom I bought this book, is devouring it on his own on a Kindle. With other books, I would have to read with him - which we both enjoy. With this book, he reads without prompting. And then he enthusiastically tells me a detailed summary of the story.

My 8 yr old has every one of the Geronimo Stilton books and he read each of them in about a week. He got a low grade in school in Reading, last semester. So, I asked him if he wanted to get a bookshelf in his room and fill it with books he read. He immediately asked for the next book in this series and the rest is history. Keep in mind this is a kid who prefers to play with Legos, be outside with other friends or get some time on the Xbox...in the middle of a free Saturday afternoon, I have seen him pick up this book, go to a quiet place and read. I could not recommend this any higher.

My kids are huge Geronimo Stilton fans. They are especially fond of the Kingdom of Fantasy. This latest installation did not disappoint. These books are one of the few that my kids will go back and read over and over.

My Grandson loves these books. As long as he enjoys reading them, I will continue buying them! I honestly never saw him get so excited when I gave him this book, even at Christmas or Birthdays! For a 7 year old boy to get excited over a book, it must be a pretty special series. I would much rather buy books than toys that are played with for a few minutes and forgotten. He even says he reads these over and over.

Each domain is explored with input from "True Experts" such as Richard Taylor, Ph.D., one of "The three men I admire the most" who work in this field. Numerous examples from the experiences of both Power and Taylor show at first hand both practices that enhance well-being, and, those that, however well-meaning, are in fact dis-empowering. A particular example that stuck in my mind, because I have seen it myself, was when Taylor talked to two ladies engaged in the "activity" of folding clothes. They were perfectly aware that staff took the clothes away, rumpled them, and brought them back for more folding.

Dr. G. Allen Power has shown himself to be a fantastic advocate for people with dementia. I saw him at a conference and talked to him later in a phone interview about his support of the Music and Memory program. The personality that shined through in those conversations comes through in this book. He is compassionate and his book gives concrete evidence for the more humane approach to dementia care.

This is a book that needs reading by so many. It can be hard to read (so 4 stars) but the central theme is exactly in the right place. I am reading it for me! As I get older, the type care Dr. Power is describing is exactly what I want to find! and I will be looking for it and demanding it for me and mine!

I bought this for the second time. It should be required reading for the adult retirement communitiy industry!

This book follows one season (winter season) of a ballerina named Toni Bentley. It’s written as a journal. Much of the writing is the personal thoughts inside the author’s mind, how she thinks, what she struggles with when she’s on and off the stage, etc. Sometimes the thoughts are upbeat, other times, you see where her thoughts turn darker, her struggle.Overall, I enjoyed this story. It’s my first time reading something from the perspective of a ballerina while she’s busy in her season. I found it enlightening in some ways, to help me better understand what so many ballerinas go through.My favorite thoughts were those about how ballerinas live for the now. They do not know what they will do when they stop dancing. They can’t afford to think about that. It’s really a dose of reality. I also liked the small glimpses into NYCB, one of the greatest companies in the world.Overall, I would recommend this book to anyone interested in the life of a ballerina. While it was not a page turner (thus the reason for 3 stars) it was pleasantly enjoyable. In general, I’m not a fan of diary style books, but I read this specifically to better understand the lives of ballerinas. It served its purpose well.I think think the most impressive aspect is that Toni Bentley was able to write all of this while she was busy with her season. I applaud her for taking the time to do so, so that we non-dancers can see what her life was like.

I really like this book, as it had interesting descriptions of how a ballet dancer really is. She wrote down great visualizations of a ballet dancer. I couldn't put the book down. It really pulls you in. Winter Season: A Dancer's Journal is a beautiful read!

Fabulous book. Tony Bentley is wise beyond her years. They say you write what you know, and she does. I saw myself in so many of the pages, which made it all so much more hard-hitting. Her accounts of her love affair with "the Duke" and how she was able to basically compartmentalize it in order to continue in her other (intense) love, of ballet and performing, was particularly fascinating. You feel you are in New York too, walking in her footsteps, as you follow her through her many adventures of body and mind. A must read for any artist or love of great writing!

I was also a dancer in NYC. Wish I could have read this then. Along with so many of us who experienced the same painful, beautiful, confusing lives. I would make the same choices had I to do it over. At age 73 I still do tendues, battement jetes, port de bras and stretches........badly ..... but I love them. Great writer. Read Toni's account of her life in the greatest ballet company the world has known. Sorry it took me years to finally read it myself.

In that sense, Bentley's book was a great choice. Through the pages of her journal one meets characters as "Mr. B," the timeless George Balanchine, Suzanne Farrell (Bentley's personal idol), Baryshnikov, Nuereyev, Kirkland and other legends of ballet with which the author was lucky to work. Her prose is agile and enjoyable, and the best thing about this book is that she doesn't tell the utopian odissey of the "ugly duckling" ballerina that suddenly becomes a principal. It's the real account of a corps dancer, with all the uncertainty and yet all the wonderment of a professional dance, not just dancing for a living but, as she puts it, living for dance.Nevertheless, as I came to the last page of the book, I was left wanting more. One winter season came and went swiflty and with it, the world of ballet evaporated before my eyes before I new it. So, as a junkie, I had to go looking elsewhere to "get my fix" of more ballet =).

I highly recommend this book written from the perspective of a NYC ballerina in the form of a journal documenting a single season she experienced with the ballet company in the time of Ballanchine. This book takes the reader right into the world of the ballet dancer and the exhaustion, joy, pride, doubts and fears experienced as the season progresses.

No "Dancing on my Grave" but nonetheless an interesting well-written account about one professional dancer's experience with a well known ballet company.

The book was a very fast and easy read--took me about 90 minutes to read it. It is interesting but it did not tell me anything that I didn't know about ballet except for maybe the Balanchine quotes. It is a good book for teenagers and those who don't know much about professional ballet. I was expecting something a bit more profound but I guess I expected too much. She was quite young when she wrote it so it is a courageous attempt for someone so young and also decently written for a first publication.

In short, it is a total failure.The book is divided into six chapters: Training Camp, The Season, The Founder, The Coaches, The Teammates, and The Championships. None of the chapters provide great insight on the given topic. Further, the organization of the book provides no chronological continuity as it jumps all over the place in time and era. Essentially what this book consists of are very short vignettes, in fact vignettes isn't even the right word, short snippets, that give a little nugget of information about the team and players. It's basically a little collection of quotes and comments about the chapter topics.The players, coaches, and owners that get the most air time, so to speak, are Wellington Mara, Sam Huff, Y.A. Tittle, Frank Gifford, Phil Simms, and Bill Parcels. Of course other players and events are touched upon, but not in any meaningful way. Yes, Lawrence Taylor is in here, but mostly only in embarrassing situations.Very unfortunately is that there is a little bit, but not nearly enough, about some of the most important events in Giants history. Want to know a little bit about one of the seminal games in NFL History, the 1958 NFL Championship between the Giants and Baltimore Colts (the first overtime game in NFL history)? You won't get much here. Want to know about the Giants' Super Bowl years? You won't get a lot here except a few quotes and comments. In short, you don't get much at all with this book.Thus, I would not recommend this book to a football fan or Giants fan. There is just not enough information or good storytelling here to make this book worthwhile. It is a quick and easy read, but even casual Giants' fans are not likely to learn anything particularly new or worthwhile.The author of this book has covered the New York Giants for the New York Post since 1994. The Giants have had mostly mediocre results during this time frame, this book is less than mediocre.

While it is interesting to know about the history of the team, and the stories of old coaches and players, I thought it lacked more info regarding the players of this generation.

Each one is only a page or two in length, so it's a book you can pick up and put down, and not have to worry about remembering where you were. I'd recommend it for any Giants fan.

Blank notepad shouldn’t cost no more then 2$

I don't know how many times my daughter said the exact words on this notebook! I gave it to her as a stocking stuffer. When she opened this gift, we just laughed. I know she loves having this notebook in her office at work!

The line spacing is greater than wide rule. It was a gag gift for an office party so I don’t really think it matters to the person who “won” it, but it would have been better unlined.

Looks like there were greasy fingerprints on the book when I received it. This book is really easy to get visible prints on don’t get me wrong but it was just weird to see someone else’s prints on it when you receive it! Other than that, great for price and fits the purpose

Along the way he worked on Francis Ford Coppola's film Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992), was a production designer for Disney's Atlantis: The Lost Empire (2001), and was the visual consultant to director Guillermo del Toro on Blade II (2002), Hellboy (2004), and Hellboy II: The Golden Army (2008), and the upcoming Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen . Just got this last night on release day, didn't have enough time to read more than the first comic. But I am super impressed with the print quality. I bought the first library edition(amazing) but I wasn't willing to take it out of my house (it was too pretty) and was trying to figure out how to read the rest of the series without breaking the bank. I will be buying all of the omnibus editions, the sheer amount of content you are getting for around $20 is insane, the print quality is great and the book seems sturdy. Its also "cheap" enough I wouldn't think twice about taking this to beach and having some hellboy fun in the sun!

Mike Mignola's paranormal investigator is collected in a fantastic new series of omnibuses starting with his early adventures against the wizard Rasputin. Beginning during the days of World War II, occult Nazi scientists (along with Rasputin the sorcerer of Russia) attempt to summon a demon from Hell to bring about Ragnarok and the end of the world. When Rasputin's spell backfires, however, the demon is instead summoned to the Allies who adopt the young demon child and raise him as a normal child. That baby grows into Hellboy: the paranormal investigator who dedicates his life to destroying dark forces like those that summoned him. Fast forwarding years into the future, the story sees Rasputin attempting to finish his life's work by forcing Hellboy to assume his role as the destroyer of Earth, while the latter fights his supposed destiny. This collection is a great one that introduces Hellboy as well as his wonderful cast of supporting characters such as Abe Sapien (the merman), Liz Sherman (the pryomancer), and Roger the Homunculus. Mignola's artwork and storytelling are the reasons to pick up this story by far. His characterization of Hellboy as a world-worn investigator who is over it is fantastic and hysterical. His artwork is atmospheric and iconic (though in my opinion Mignola's art doesn't lend itself well to action scenes of which there are a few too many in this volume). Any fan who has wanted to get the full story in chronological order or anyone who wants to find a good jumping on point for the series should grab this omnibus.

I have loved Hellboy for more than a decade now. It was among the first comics I ever picked up as a teenager and I loved pretty much everything about it from the word go—from Mignola's amazing artwork to the story's clever conceit. It's safe to say that the book has had a deep and lasting impact on me.For some reason or another, though, I only ever really managed to read a handful of the stories. And I think this is mostly because Hellboy's main story has been told in such a haphazard, hodgepodge way over the years. I was never quite able to keep up with it.But then the other day I saw that Amazon/Comixology had the digital version of the omnibus collections for dirt cheap and decided I need to fill this glaring gap in my pop culture knowledge.Seed of Destruction was, I think, the very first Hellboy book I ever picked up (at a Sam Goody of all places—remember those? I am an old). I still remember all the things that drew me into the story: the gorgeous art; the matter-of-fact way it dealt with the supernatural (that nobody ever comments on Hellboy's demonic demeanor is still one of my absolute favorite things); the way it played with folklore and history; and the ominous, Lovecraftian implications of the world it presented. I was young, still, and a budding reader at that. I was very much discovering what exactly my alley was, then—but I knew that this was right up there.It still holds up, I think. It's a little clunky and rushed at times, sure, but you can't help but admire the sheer ambition Mignola had from the get go. He begins with the end of the world, after all. And then he keeps on running.Mignola's skills with storytelling through art are evident, too, and still impress the hell out of me. There are sequences here are so good that I'm certain you could take out the dialogue and the story would still read through, almost like a silent movie.And then, of course, there is Mike Mignola's actual art: expressive, cinematic, stylized, and stylish as hell. It is, and forever will be, an absolute joy to look at.I can't wait to read the rest of my devil boi's story, finally.

Loved the movies and loved the book. Came on time and in one piece. Started reading it as soon as it came in and it made this white streak coming down but that was on me. Worth getting if you love HellBoy!

Reading this on the Kindle Paperwhite is not the best option. It is doable, but it kinda sucks. BUT I installed Kindle on my MS Surface Pro and this is a thing of beauty on there.Also, I love the way the Kindle software works with comic books. I am so impressed, that I won't buy physical copies of trades anymore. If I want to catch up on reading, I'll buy the Kindle versions. (Assuming they all work as well as this one.)

Between the references by other writers and the existence of the movie, I have been aware of Hellboy for a long time. I think I may have seen a still from the movie and then realized it was based on a comic. The character looked stupid.And then I kept reading about how others creators liked Hellboy. I purchased this volume and read the first story arc over a few days. It didn't hold me. Lots of background and nothing too interesting. But I thought that the art was very good. I came back to it a week or so later and read the next arc. That was better. And a story about vampires after that was really good.The occult stories with a little background of real history makes for some fun reading. I was surprised that I ended up liking this. I'll get volume 2.

This is the worst repair manual ever. It has like 4 models that were covered and some of the repairs just were not properly and completely explained. I have a haynes manual for my honda accord which is far far more superior to this one. Never again will be buying Chilton repair manuals in the future.

We just purchased a Nutri Ninja blender and love it. I was excited when I saw this book, just at the right time after buying the Ninja. The recipes look easy, the commentary is informative, educational (in a humorous way), and easy to understand. The ONLY problem I have is that the measurements are metric, and having grown up without ever learning how to use any metric measurements, I have a problem figuring out what 1 cm or 350 ml actually mean in real life. It became more of a burden to translate the measurements.I was really looking forward to making some of these smoothies. The book is chaptered according to interests: losing weight, energy boosts, sports drinks, healthy heart, to name a few.

This is more than just a recipe book. It is also like a manual on making smothies. After reading it you have useful information on how to make smoothies, the tools/equipment to use the fruits and veggies to choose. The author goes further and informs the reader on the nutritional benefits of the main ingredient used in each smoothie. She also explains why you should use smoothies instead of other forms of preparing meals and refreshments, and what you should put in them.Also useful are the tips the author provides on a healthy lifestyle. Nothing new but a necessary reminder that food alone does dot a healthy person make. You need a balanced diet, exercise, enough sleep. An Orphan’s Wish is by Molly Green. This book takes place during World War I south of Liverpool. Bingham Hall is where Dr. Carl Barnard has set up his orphanage. Generally, the children from the orphanage did not attend the local school; but this year a few of them did.Lana Ashwin wanted to do something for the war effort; but she was needed to help her father run his grocery store. She also needed to be near to be able to see Dickie when his ship made homeport. They were secretly engaged and when his ship came in, they would tell their folks and everyone and then get married. However, her dreams came to an end with the telegram telling her of Dickie’s death. Now she really needed to get away. She answered an advertisement for a head mistress of a school. Never dreaming she would be hired, she applied. However, they didn’t need her. A few days later, she got a call that she was needed if she would take it temporarily. So, Lana headed for Bingham to be Head mistress of the school. The book tells of her adventures being headmistress and dealing with children like Priscilla whose parents died and she refused to accept it or Peter whose Father was German.The book is cute and it is emotional as well. It is well worth reading.

Having read the previous two books in this series, An Orphan's Wish was an exceptional continuation centered around the familiar inhabitants of Bingham Hall, along with some intriguing new characters. I so enjoyed this three book series, and feel heavy-hearted that the series has concluded, or has it??? I became so involved with the characters and various storylines that I have spent every opportunity available reading!!! I LOVED how the author had written her stories- engaging all of my emotions, never going on and on about insignificant things or descriptions; the stories moved right along and didn't insult my intelligence! Written with intense compassion, drama, and humor, I highly recommend this incredible series!

Truely an overwhelming exceptional storyline. Your storytelling skills with captivating characters and events held me spellbound throughout. Really difficult times for so many children that had lost their families, so thankful for orphanages and hope most like Bingham with loving caregivers. Hope there are more books to this series, Please!!!!!

Absolutely love all of Molly’s books. So sad there is not another one available just yet. Real people real situations and lots of anticipation of how things will turn out throughout the book. All her writing is done in such good taste all with a great sense of good moral values. Thanks for sharing your gift of writing Molly.

I have read and love all three books in this set involving the children and teachers of the of Bernardino school for orphaned children. They are very compelling stories. The war shattered their world's and as a group they worked to hold each other up.

I read the series easy read enjoyed them all could have happened back then glad things hopefully have changed for kids

I loved this book. The characters in Molly's books are so realistic. I start reading and can't stop until I read every page. Now I can't wait for the next book so I can read about Lana and Frank's life together.
