This recipe book bundle is a great deal- you get A LOT of recipes for all different types of meals, from breakfast to dinner, plus smoothies, snacks, and desserts. Marta makes a point to try to keep things easy to prepare for busy people. This is a great book to have on hand as a staple for vegan alkaline food. As with almost every e-book there are one or two typographical errors mixed in, but it is nothing that would take away from the awesome and healthy recipes and information in the books. I am actually really excited to try more of these recipes; it will take a long time to get through all of them!

I highly recommend this book and collection of recipes for those wanting to take charge of their health by mindfully balancing what they eat. The instruction about how to make your system more alkaline is simple and down to earth. You are encouraged to find and do what works for you in adapting to this way of eating. It is a way of life that is so helpful when you follow it, you can avoid having to take medication for various ailments by learning what causes inflammation in the body and avoiding it. The books are well organized and divided into meals and ideas for breakfast, lunch and dinner. She challenges you to break out of your routine and make gradual changes so you can stick with it and reward yourself for your progress. Very disappointed. I was hoping for a cookbook...with emphasis on cooking. So many of the recipes were simply combining raw ingredients. While raw food is healthy, I was hoping to get some ideas for hearty dinners using alkalizing foods. The bulk of the recipes were breakfast. I haven't read every single recipe in the book yet, but so far I haven't found any that I even care to try.

I absolutely LOVED this bundle. It offers simple recipes that anyone can follow and everyone will enjoy. It is a great addition to anyone's kitchen. The Veggie Paella was AMAZING. I can't wait to try other recipes. My only recommendation would be to add visuals. Some recipes sound really interesting and I'd love to see a picture of them before making it.

having been a single parent for 10+ years - I found this book tremendously encouraging. the idea that we often put ourselves last is a real and the authors ability to call attention to this is great! encouraging the positives of being a single mom, yes there are some, and taking stock of the health of our relationships with ourselves and our children via the questions in this book helped me take notice of the things I had lost sight of....perspective provides priority. sooooo worth the read!!!

I was a single mom and still am although my children are grown now. I now lead a single mom's group. This book was so encouraging. It portrayed single moms as being special instead of being different or an outsider. It is meant to be an overview for single moms and leads them to other helpful resources for their particular situation.

Kinda churchy, it's a very basic book for someone who has not gone through psychology or self help on how to get out of abusive relationships.

This author has been there. She gets it. So many things discussed and pointed out. A must have in the personal library. Wonderful read. Enjoyed the book immensely.

This book is ok. It has an encouraging tone and nice information, but it was written as if single mothers need to be told that God is not disappointed in them. I was thinking "What? God disappointed in me?! Oh right. Christians sometimes think that being a single mother is shameful." It never even crossed my mind. It was a turn off that the book seemed to be premised on shame I was supposed to be feeling but am not.I also found that the reccomendations in this book are not geared towards professional women. I'm used to making goals for my life and obtaining them, but this book is written as if I need encouragement to take control of my situation. This may be helpful to the right audience, but it just didn't speak to me.

I should have read the reviews. Misleading one description says 700 plus pages, another says 70. This book is the 70. Save your money. It's a summary far from a complete summary at that. For a deeper understanding check out Nsut Bty ny Asar Hotep.

Budge gives us a direct and literal translation of the "Book of Coming Forth By Day." I appreciate this edition in its organization with two layouts, one with and one without the corresponding hieroglyphics. Budge is a classic for a reason. It is helpful to read Ellis' translation side by side to get a more accesible spiritual viewpoint.

Not what it says. I was expecting a translated version of the book of the dead not the cliff notes. Very very disappointed

Ridiculous edition. The description for the KINDLE EDITION purports to be the full transcription by Budge, but there are only about 15 pages. Well, you get what you pay for in this case: ZILCH. But the description truly should be differentiated.

I don't care for this book. Was more like a reference book, than a good read. But it must hold a wealth of information.

This book is fascinating. It is what the ancient Egyptians believed and a lot of it we still believe in present day religion. They weren't too far from the truth. It doesn't tell you all of the beliefs but enough to make it interesting reading.

one can't fault budge for being a product of his time. compared to more modern writers he's a little stilted and stuffy, but i gather (not being an expert myself) that he's a very good translator and that this is a Very Important Work.but don't buy it for your kindle. there's no way to jump to the prayers you need, and it's simply too long to shuffle through every time. i'll probably never look at this again.khairetesuz

None of these books sadly contain the printing historyof the publications, and this last one, once again has no title on the spine!

A great story with developed characters and the manny/widow trope. I had high hopes, but something happened about the half way point. It’s like the editor just stopped working. One page alone had seven errors. Then, it’s like the comma rules were reversed: where there should have been commas, they were missing and then random commas just appeared wherever the author wanted them. Constant errors take away from the book, especially the start of a series.

Ethan needed a fresh start after his last disastrous relationship and moved in with his childhood best friend Finn. Finn was also responsible for mentioning the nanny job Caleb was hiring for. Caleb was stuck in a rut at work and in over his head raising his three children after the death of his wife. Ethan and Caleb both tried to keep thing professional for the sake of the kids but quickly realized they had a deeper connection that couldn't be ignored any longer. Caleb almost let fear completely ruin the best thing that had happened to his family and his children and brother called him on it. I laughed at how Finn always seems to mother his friends and help them navigate their tricky relationships. Hopefully Dylan will do more than just help Grayson walk again.'I received an ARC of this book and voluntarily reviewed it.'

Caleb is a widower who needs assistance with his three children because he can't work to take care of his family and physically be there to take care of them. So he winds up hiring Ethan to be his nanny. Caleb did not expect that the nanny would not only be good for the children but that his presence in their lives would wind up providing spark and care for him as well. i read this book as part of an arc program. In this book, Caleb is a single father of three children and he decides to hire help because he feels like he can't do everything anymore. Caleb's wife had died a few years ago and he has been alone since. When Ethan left his boyfriend and moved back to Worthington, he went to work as a manny for Caleb in hopes of saving enough money to eventually go back to medical school. Ethan fit in with the family and everything was going great, except he had a crush on Caleb. Caleb also had a crush on Ethan, but he never told anyone he was bisexual and he didn't know how his family would react to him being with a man. Caleb also didn't want to risk having his kids get attached to someone for them to leave. When Ethan accidentally found Caleb's stash of gay porn, he knew Caleb liked men for sure. Ethan knew it was a risk to get involved with Caleb and he could lose his job, but he couldn't help himself. When Caleb and Ethan acted on their attractions to each other, Caleb wanted to hide it from the kids and Ethan agreed. They began a secret fling, but Ethan felt things were only going to get harder because he had feelings for Caleb and Caleb wouldn't acknowledge him as a love and he wondered if he could continue working for him. I enjoyed this story. I felt so bad for Caleb, i thought he lost so much and thought he couldn't be happy again. Ethan really loved Caleb and wanted to be with him, but he couldn't live in secret. I loved the relationship Ethan had with the kids and i think he brought them all closer. Good one.

Ethan needed a job and a fresh start, so he could move on with his life. Neither of them expected to find more.I love that Caleb decides to ask for help, that he sees that he can't do everything, but I don't like that he's ashamed of it. In my opinion, a person who needs help and doesn't ask for it out of pride is weaker than someone who recognizes it.And I don't like that he is still hiding. It's not just for his children, it's for himself. He doesn't want to recognize who he is and what he feels.Ethan is braver, because he didn't hide, even though it cost him his relationship with his family. And, although it's not easy, he has managed to leave his ex and fights to start over. He wants to go back to university, he wants to fulfill his dreams.I love his relationship with Caleb's children. He is understanding with them, he listens to them. And it hurts that Caleb doesn't have that relationship with Cara, that she trusts Ethan before she trusts him. But it's very credible. Sometimes it's easier to talk to a stranger than to someone in your own family.I love them together.I love Grayson. He wants his brother to be happy, but he also wants him not to hurt Ethan.I also love Cara, who was lost at the beginning of the book, but who becomes a girl as understanding as Ethan.

If Venkatesh were a student at an Ivy League school instead of a professor, this book would probably have been handed back with extensive red markings and a note to see the professor. Or a better copy editor. Or a therapist. Written in the first person, the book follows his move to NYC, desperate search for research subjects, quest for tenure, attempt to define sociology and eventual break up with his wife. All the personal upheaval in his life leads to muddled prose. The book lacks the details and insights that would otherwise make the characters from NYC's underworld fully 3-dimensional.

I felt the writer was a bit self conscious. He admits that, but still, I admit it did bother me at times. In the world in which he chose to navigate and 'research' one never knows exactly how accurate an account of that he wishes to study, that he is actually obtaining. It seemed interesting, yet ambiguous, neither research nor novel, vignettes, almost a story, but not quite. There is so little to reference it in some ways. He doesn't explore the personalities and character of his subjects deeply. That is OK, but it lacks the intensity of a fiction where we become involved with the lives of those we are meeting in the pages. There is something impersonal about the people in the book and our author appears to try to keep it that way. Yet, I also had the feeling that he cared for several of them and those are the ones we got to know a bit more than some of the others. There is little discussion of social morality or what the effects of those social practices are upon their practitioners. Perhaps that is as it should have been for the purposes of the kind of book he wished to write. It did occur to me some days after finishing reading the book how much better off our world would be if drugs and prostitution were totally legal in every way and regulated as legitimate commerce. I didn't have any sense of how the author felt about that and perhaps its unimportant, but such a book does assist one in thinking of such things. I think that is good. I was disappointed in that the author himself remained such an enigma. After all, we spent all our time with him. I never felt as if I met him, this guy I spent a whole book with, reading his thoughts.

Author does research on the sex industry in NY and the interactions of the different people with each other.He becomes emotionally involved ( not sexually) with his subjects. Author links some of his feelings with his own failing marriage but that was a side issue.The book was drawn out for too many chapters and did not follow characters in depth as much as the reader would have liked.Most of what he writes about is illegal ,such as prostitution ,drug pushing and pimping so how he could write about it without police involvement made me wonder how much the police ignore and how much they are paid to ignore.Interesting book but not a compelling read.

I read Floating City today -- I had pre-ordered it to be downloaded to my ipad. The stories in the book about all the people in the 'underground' Venkatesh encountered are very well done and the fact that white elites were among them makes the book even more compelling to read. However, while Venkatesh frames New York City as one that floats; his continued somewhat unenthusiastic dialogue about the general field of Sociology as well as his Columbia colleagues becomes a broken record pretty early on in the book. This distracts from all the complex, sometimes dark, and interesting characters and social networks that unfold in the book. Shine tells Venkatesh near the end of the book that he and others know how to move on but he sees Venkatesh as standing still and doing nothing. Venkatesh did write this book and it does have a lot to offer, but the narrative feels somewhat forced specifically because of his fixation on how Sociology doesn't seem to take him that seriously. The result is that he often comes off as somewhat whiny. So let's look at the evidence: he is a tenured full professor with an endowed chair at one of the most prestigious academic institutions in the country. His documentary film, Dislocation, which focuses on the forced relocation of public housing residents in Chicago, is used in urban sociology, geography, and urban policy classrooms all over the country -- as is his previous autobiographical book "Gang Leader". I'd say he is doing very well as a Sociologist. Implicit here is that Columbia University and his colleagues have supported his research both for academic and broader audiences.

Another work by the Columbia University sociologist Venkatesh, who illuminates the "darker" side of New York City dwellers. If you still believe that the poor don't try hard enough, read this book. It demonstrates how some poor people can't catch a break and how others resort to any means they can to survive.

I read this book after the interesting bit the author worked on Freakanomics. I was expecting something new and interesting about the new york underground economy....what I found was generalities you can catch on a tv show.

The underground economy in New York would have been a fascianting topic This book is at best a collection of anecdotes centering more on the author than the alleged topic and not presenting any non- obvious insights into the underground economy His discussions of events in his life and his reactions to people he meets are uninteresting whines of a privileged academic

I adore Sudhir Ventakesh's writing, reporting and storytelling. Unfortunately, he disappointed me this go around. It was self indulgent and subjective. Too self reflective and a conclusion that was thinly thread together.

This is a well-written story and I really enjoyed it. And I'll continue reading the other two books in the series. BUT ... this author has got to get a proofreader!! I've honestly never read a book with so many typos in it. And I'm not talking about misplaced commas; I'm talking about having the wrong character speaking, entire words left out, misspelled words, etc. It was very distracting and it pulled me out of the book every time I stumbled over another one. It's as if this author and her publisher work on such a tight budget that she writes the book and then a few books get printed up by a second-rate printer and sent out for purchase without anyone bothering to look it over first. Anyway, she's a good writer but the physical book itself is really amateur and poorly published. And a real distraction from a great story line and good sense of humor.

To my surprise this book is advertised as laugh out loud funny. I struggled through the first quarter of it,but have not been able to laugh at all. It is pitiful, a woman who cannot cook, arrives at the restaurant of a family member, signs some papers, and is now the owner. Things like that. If that is what you like, this book is for you. I have a bunch of hopefully better ones waiting. A dollar wasted.

I like most of AR Winters' books. It is an easy read, that I finished in a few hours. The story began quite nicely, and was interesting. The characters were nicely introduced, and I came to like the main character. The reason for the 4 stars is that the book seemed to abruptly end. It went from looking for the murderer and having no clue whom it is, to the end of the book in what felt like a few pages. It left me feeling a little disappointed, and the ending felt a bit rushed.

I should have known better. A much too unrealistic, fabricated plot. The first couple of pages (the ones the preview shows) looked a lot better than the rest of the book. Didn't finish it but got into it enough to feel comfortable giving feedback.

What a fun read. Kylie is newly divorced and finds herself living in her ex's hometown. The fun theme that runs through the whole book is her extreme lack of culinary skill after purchasing a cafe from her cousin. In the midst of trying to find her place in the world again, she meets a great group of people who become new friends. This was a nice mix of laugh out loud funny and snooping to find a murderer. Hope this series continues for a long time.

Well.. I was very disappointed . Expecting humor...only found many typo errors. Will not read any other of author's book. Unrealistic and just plain stupid. Wasted my fixed income money on nonentertainment. Bellylaughs???????

Kylie took her ex husband Mercedes for the trip to Kentucky, if he found out, there would be a warrant.A cousin invited her to come and work in the café, a second chance with new beginnings. She arrives to find her cousins is selling the cafe to her, while she goes to Seattle. Problem #1 Kylie can’t cook #2 cook quits the first day. #3 new woman she hired made killer brownies, which was murder. Staff stayed with her and help her solved. As for the new chef it was to be Kylie with her Ops board. It was funny, had a good plot and a murder to solve.

A. R. Winters does an awesome job with this character. I myself an not a great cook, but she makes me feel like Julie Childs with some of the failures she ends up with in the kitchen. Her friends and side kicks have her back and I can't wait to read more from this series. I'm a finicky reader and all I can say is please don't stop writing on this character.
